VSL Elements

The big Vienna Instruments Collections are the most powerful sample-based orchestral virtual instruments ever created. The collections, organized in the categories of Strings, Winds, Percussion & Keyboards, and Voices, offer the most complete playing techniques and articulations of all instruments, enabling you to create sonic results of the highest caliber and utmost authenticity. You can purchase them as VSL Instruments Bundles for a reduced bundle price.

Based on the Standard Libraries the FULL Libraries include additional instruments and articulations.

Water. Metal. Glass. Stone.

Some very archaic elements are used here for sound production. This Collection offers exciting instruments such as the bass waterphone, the 5-octave lithophone and the XXL tam-tam. The waterphone is an unusual, evocative instrument with a diameter of 14 inches and is considerably larger than the waterphone used in the Percussion Collection. The more unusual sonic possibilities and a wider variety of colors are achieved by the additional sounding rods, their increased length, the larger opening and a bigger resonating body with more water. The oversized XXL tam-tam, with a diameter of more than 65 inches, was treated with all the tricks of the trade, with a special nod to Stockhausens opus “Mikrophonie” and others. It was struck with metal rods, cardboard and jigsaw blades, hit and rubbed with chains, and manhandled with fly swatters, an egg cutter, and even a massaging rod. The bottles contained in this Collection are blown – with articulations such as sustains and flutter tonguing. The Elements Collection also features musical glasses, a glass harmonica and a verrophone.

ARTICULATIONS - Full Library

•     Glass instruments: Staccato, portato, sustains, trills, tremolo. Glass harmonica, verrophone and bottles are also played with mallets.
•     Lithophone: Left and right hand strokes, muted strokes, tremolos and chord tremolos played with five different mallets. Special effects
•     include strokes with fingers and fingernails, bowed notes, and notes played with stones and needles on the sound bars for shatter effects.
•     XXL Tam-tam: Single hits (rim and middle), short and long tremolos (open, muted, crescendos & diminuendos), effects.
•     Bass Watherphone: Staccato and portato variations, sustains, repetitions, crescendos, tremolos, arpeggios, glissandos, hotrods, wood
•     mallets, strokes.

Requirements
Your purchase of any VSL library entitles you to download the free Vienna Instruments Player software that includes the Vienna Ensemble mixing host.

Product activation:
Vienna Instruments require the ViennaKey!
This USB protection device by eLicenser (by Steinberg, formerly Syncrosoft) is not included in the box of any collection, it is a separate item you have to get additionally. So you’ll have to order at least one ViennaKey with your first purchase. It will be put inside the shopping basket automatically but can be deleted if not required. Customers who order the complete SYMPHONIC CUBE will get one ViennaKey for free (not shown in the basket). If you already own another eLicenser USB protection device (e.g., from Steinberg or Arturia), you can use it for the VIENNA INSTRUMENTS, too. Each dongle can store up to 100 product licenses.
Additionally an internet connection on any computer is required to authorize a VSL product.
