The sound of a 312-type preamp should be fast, punchy and paradoxically, transparent yet aggressive, and all of that applies to the B12A MkII. The price has increased somewhat, but is still more than reasonable for the level of quality you get. If you have nothing available to you but the preamps in your audio interface or mixer and want to increase the sonic choices and level of sonic quality at your disposal, the BLA B12A MkII would be an excellent choice for expanding your preamp collection. Even if you already have some other nice preamps you'll find plenty of uses for it too.
