CINEMATIC ENSEMBLES
SYMPHOBIA is not your traditional orchestral sample library. Instead of focusing on individual instrument multi-samples, SYMPHOBIA offers ensemble multi-samples with a rich selection of orchestrations and articulations. These playable ensembles cover all of the sections from the orchestra, as well as the entire orchestra playing together. The reason is simple: the real thing sounds so much better. A staccato note played by violins, violas, horns and trumpets, together, correctly seated at the concert stage, will sound much more cohesive than a mixture of individual sample recordings of these four instrument sections. This makes SYMPHOBIA the ideal tool for creating big orchestral arrangements and orchestrations. In addition, a number of individual instrument articulations are available, such as violin section flageolets and horn section marcatos.
CINEMATIC EFFECTS
The ensemble sounds make up about half of SYMPHOBIA. The other half is all about cinematic effects: performances that cannot be recreated using individual multi-samples. Like the ensemble performances, the effects are available in different orchestrations, played by different sections throughout the orchestra. You will find violin glissandi, as well as full orchestra rips and stabs. Every effect is available in a number of variations or articulations.
The Ensembles
STRING SECTION
SYMPHOBIA introduces a brand new instrument group for ProjectSAM: the string ensemble, recorded in our warm concert hall. An extensive Ensemble bank and a unique Effects bank are available. The Ensemble bank includes numerous full-string articulations, including tremolo, staccato, pizzicato and con sordino. Other highlights in the collection feature beautiful chord performances and low strings playing in octaves. The Effects bank includes a wide range of upward and downward glissandi, shrieky clusters, stabs and wild arco/pizzicato textures -- priceless material for film and TV composers and impossible to achieve using standard multi-samples.
BRASS SECTION
The brass in SYMPHOBIA are all-new recordings. This makes it an ideal addition to ORCHESTRAL BRASS CLASSIC. The Brass Section in SYMPHOBIA offers a full-brass ensemble in a number of articulations, including sustain, marcato, staccato and mutes. Also available are major & minor chord performances, different orchestrations of mixed brass instruments and, similar to the strings, low brass in octaves, with the tuba playing an octave below the trombones. The Effects range from several types of horrific clusters to note bendings, horn rips and wild repetitions. Some effects are performed by the entire brass ensemble, others by one instrument section at a time.
WOODWIND SECTION
SYMPHOBIA offers full-woodwind ensemble samples that include the following instruments: flute/oboe/clarinet/bassoon/bass clarinet/contra bassoon. Apart from the vibrato and non-vibrato sustains, portatos and staccatos, octave runs are available, as well as flute piccolo effects, clusters, slap notes, wild phrases and multi-phonics. ProjectSAM has a special discount offer for all users who purchased our woodwind downloads in the past.
STRING & BRASS SECTION
One of SYMPHOBIA´s highlights are the performances by strings and brass together. Nothing beats the live, natural blending of sections in a real concert hall. SYMPHOBIA offers powerful sustains, staccatos and other articulations played by violins, violas, celli, contrabasses, horns, trumpets, trombones and tuba playing together in different orchestration variations. Numerous special effects are available, combining different playing techniques and dynamic arcs like arco, tremolo, flageolet for strings and open, muted and flatter-tongue for brass. Last but not least, the Effects bank houses the Glissandi Rips, played by the same powerful combination of sections.
SOLO STRING ENSEMBLE
In addition to the large symphonic sections, SYMPHOBIA also offers a solo string quintet, consisting of 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello and 1 contrabass. As with the other ensembles, the solo strings are spread out over one full keyboard.
FULL ORCHESTRA
Massive orchestral impact! That´s the best way to describe the contents in this bank. Full-orchestra stabs, rips, dark textures and trailer risers are included, ranging from huge staccato hits to 15 second crescendos. You won´t easily find orchestral effects more intense than these.
DYSTOPIA II
Dystopia Volume Two: the dark side of SAM, featuring ambiences, textures, pads and effects created by processing and tweaking the SYMPHOBIA recordings. An extremely inspiring addition to the acoustic string, brass and woodwind instruments found in this library, covering pads, spheres and percussive sounds.
ETHNIC FLUTE PHRASES
SYMPHOBIA covers instruments that go beyond the traditional symphonic range. Over 120 beautifully performed ethnic flute phrases are included, covering duduk, shakuhachi and Native American flute. Some phrases are atonal or effect-like, others are performed in a specific key.
As a bonus, we also included the Gran Cassa II: a multi-sampled orchestral bass drum previously only available to TRUE STRIKE users.
MULTIS
SYMPHOBIA without adult supervision! What do you get when you layer SYMPHOBIA´s unique recordings into massive combinations? Find out in the Multis section -- a selection of inspiring, stylized program combinations, layering ensembles, effects and articulations together, creating ready-to-go combos for different musical genres. The naming of each Multi will give you a good clue about its typical use. A few examples: "Acid For Blood", "Chainsaw Attack", "Cat ´n Mouse" and "City Noir". There are currently 40 Multis to explore, and more are added with each Symphobia update.

HIGHLIGHTS
NEW ARTICULATIONS
If you own the original SYMPHOBIA, SYMPHOBIA 2 will greatly expand your possibilities. To name a few, the SYMPHOBIA 2 string section adds minor and major DXF trills, different lengths of crescendo-decrescendo, new crescendos and new spiccatos. The full orchestra section has powerful new sustain and staccato articulations, and a beautiful Wide Octaves articulation with modwheel control. The separate horn section in the original SYMPHOBIA has been expanded with a blockbuster 8-player horn ensemble.
NEW EFFECTS
If you liked the effects in the original SYMPHOBIA, you are going to love the ones in SYMPHOBIA 2! Having covered the basis, we could explore the world of orchestral effects further and look for interesting new sounds and more specific techniques. There are now effects banks entirely dedicated to ponticello, flageolet or other playing techniques. You will also find beautiful looped textures that can be triggered in different keys. These phrases will instantly give your production a realism boost, but leave enough room to add your own personal touches.
LEGATO ENSEMBLES
An industry-first: real legato transitions for orchestrated sets of instruments. Various differently arranged ensembles were captured performing legato intervals, playing in unison or octaves, and were meticulously edited and scripted. A great example is the noble sounding Horns Violins Violas set, which offers real legato performance of French horns, violins and violas playing in unison. No layering was used whatsoever. The legatos, transitions and orchestrations you hear are all real.
Each of the sets has been recorded in a specific range and dynamic, dictated by the orchestration and the musical context of the orchestration. Apart from the LEGATO ENSEMBLES we also included a number of legato solo instruments. [Hear a demo now]
DYSTOPIA VOLUME 3
Our popular DYSTOPIA section is back and is better than ever! Explore the dark side of SAM with processed hits, spheres, scapes and risers, based on the recordings of SYMPHOBIA 2 and some of our other libraries. Also be sure to check out the SYMPHOBIAN DRUMS. [Dystopia screenshot]
BRAND-NEW INTERFACE
SYMPHOBIA 2 is powered by Kontakt 4.1 and comes with a brand-new interface. In the centre are the instrument and articulation displays. The left half of the interface contains all the switchable options such as Master EQ, release trails and microphone mode. The right half of the interface has all the controllable options such as instant ADSR, reverb and DSP effects.
SWITCHABLE MIC MODE
Like the original SYMPHOBIA, SYMPHOBIA 2 was recorded in a beautiful concert hall environment and has been edited and programmed in two microphone sets: close and stage. Each program now contains both microphone sets and has a convenient switch button to choose which mic set you wish to use. Both mic sets have been carefully mixed to instantly fall into place in your mix. When switching mics, the samples for the unused mic will be purged from RAM.
OUR BEST MULTIS EVER
The LEGATO ENSEMBLES opened up exciting new possibilities for creating MULTIS. We created MULTIS that allow you to play two, even three legato instruments simultaneously as well as various combinations of polyphonic articulations and a legato instrument.
With names such as "Make It So" and "When All Hope Is Lost" it´s easy to find the MULTI that best matches your project or scene.
SYMPHOBIA 2 update 1.3 adds a massive 7 GB (uncompressed sample format) to an already stellar sample collection, offering loads of additional samples, new features and a completely overhauled interface.
An additional dynamic layer has been added to four of the popular Legato Ensembles. This means that you now have multi-dynamic, expressive mod-wheel control for instruments such as the Celli Doublebasses in Octaves and the Horns Violins Violas in Unison.
10 New inspiring Multis are available covering various styles and genres. Some examples are Close the Gates, Femme Fatale, Sniper Mission and Transcending Monks.
A whole list of new features and functionality is available: a new Horns Trombones instrument with "cliffhanger clusters", an informative color-coded Kontakt keyboard, the ability to control release trail volume and length, legato overlap time and curve, reset round robin cycles and much more.
